End of Abyss has four Logbook categories, not one collectible list. Notes, Data Shards, Codes and Creatures each need a different sweep to reach 100%.
End of Abyss Logbook: Notes, Data Shards, Codes, Creatures
The End of Abyss Logbook is four scored tabs, not one list: Creatures, Notes, Data Shards and Codes. The fifth tab, Guides, counts for nothing, and clearing the other four fires Completionist. On the launch build checked 2026-10-03 the community tracker lists 42 creatures, 51 notes, 8 Data Shards and 4 cheat codes found so far — and nothing is missable.
Scanning is hold, not tap, and bosses register themselves when you kill them — the two facts behind almost every "I finished the game and Completionist never popped" complaint.

The four tabs, their counts, and the trophy behind each
| Tab | Entries found (2026-10-03) | Trophy / achievement | What clears it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creatures | 42 | Zoologist — "Scan all Creatures" | 9 of the 42 are bosses that add themselves |
| Notes | 51 | Archivist — "Scan all Notes" | All 51 documents, no partial credit, rarest sweep in the game |
| Data Shards | 8 | Defragmented — "Find all Data Shards" | Pick up all 8, then hand the set in at the Mainframe |
| Codes | 4 found, total unconfirmed | Cryptographer — "Scan all Codes" | Invisible unless the Scanner is up |
| Guides | not scored | — | Nothing. Completionist explicitly excludes it |
Counts and entry IDs come from the 100% Guides full Logbook tracker, which follows the in-game menu's own ID scheme: creatures CR-001 to CR-042, notes NO-001 to NO-051, shards DA-001 to DA-008. Read CR-018 off the Logbook screen mid-run and you know which entry you still owe.
Four cheat codes are published: Armor (Containment Sector B1), Infinite Ammo (Communication Center F3), Infinite Health Boosters (Infirmary B1) and Big Knife (Habitation Sector B1). The tracker states outright that its authors do not yet know the full count, so read "4" as what has been found, not as the number you must match.
Scanning is hold-to-scan, not tap
The scan is a two-stage input, and the second stage is where people lose the sweep. Bring up the Scanner — a d-pad input that, per Shacknews' review, opens a scanner shining a bright blue light as it analyzes "objects, structures, and creatures in the surrounding" area. Then get a lock-on and hold the scan input until the bar completes. A tap only starts the bar; let go and you start over.

A subject that refuses to scan is almost never a bug: either the reticle has not settled, or it has not been aggroed — the Lurker in Waterworks B3 must be shot once first. Codes share the trait for a stronger reason, being invisible without the Scanner up. The input breakdown is in the End of Abyss Scanner Guide.
Creatures: 42 entries, nine of which hand themselves to you
Zoologist looks like a boss checklist because nine of the 42 entries are bosses, every named boss including the two optional ones. Bosses are added to the Logbook automatically the moment you defeat them, so you cannot lose one by killing it unscanned.
The other 33 entries are ordinary creatures and NPCs, four of which are the named NPCs you meet along the story:
| Creature | Where to find it if you missed it |
|---|---|
| Captain | Upper-right corner of the final boss arena, Lower Levels |
| Soldier C-12 | Room to the right on Communication Center F1, via the lift down from F2 |
| Soldier O-14 | His corpse in the Outer Sector |
| Soldier E-19 | His corpse in the room just before the final boss fight |
That is why this tab never soft-locks. NPCs move around, but they are never gone — a corpse still scans, and the larger mobs that do not respawn always have a version lying somewhere on the map.
Morgue Dweller at Infirmary B1 and Brood Keeper at Ventilation Tunnels F2 are the two optional bosses worth chasing for the Logbook specifically; their keycards and unlock order are in End of Abyss Bosses: All 7 Named Bosses.
Notes: 51 entries, and the rarest sweep in the game
Archivist is the grind of the four. It wants all 51 notes scanned, no shortcut and no partial credit — the set runs NO-001 ("Worker B-5256: Diary Entry") through NO-051 ("Incoherent Note"), and it is also the least common trophy on the board. PSNProfiles lists Archivist at 0.1% Ultra Rare, and Epic's achievements page rounds the same achievement to 0% of players. The neighbouring Logbook trophies sit in the same Ultra Rare band; the rarity breakdown ranks the whole set.
All 51 note names are published, but that section is flagged as still being written, so per-note coordinates are not yet on the record. Anyone quoting a specific note location is going past what has been verified — sweep opportunistically instead.
Notes spread across B1 to F4 rather than concentrating in one wing, so the sector-by-sector map reference matters more here than the ID list.
Data Shards: 8 entries, and the only collectible that changes the ending
Data Shards are the one Logbook category with a consequence: all 8 must be in hand when you deliver them, because a partial set does nothing.
| ID | Location |
|---|---|
| DA-001 | Lower Levels F1 |
| DA-002 | Habitation Sector F1 |
| DA-003 | Ventilation Tunnels F3 |
| DA-004 | Factory West F4 |
| DA-005 | Reactor B1 |
| DA-006 | Waterworks B3 |
| DA-007 | Containment Sector F3 |
| DA-008 | Lower Levels B4 |
Five of the eight sit behind a keycard you have to go find first, and DA-005 needs the Reactor Pool drained before you can reach it. None is a free pickup on the critical path.
The secret ending route is strict. Beat the normal ending, get returned to the main menu, press Continue — that drops you at the last autosave in the safe room before the final boss. Carry all 8 shards to the Mainframe on B3 of the Lower Levels and defeat the final boss again. The full trophy roadmap puts the platinum at 15-20 hours; our how long to beat breakdown splits that between the main run and the sweep.
Codes: scan them all, and above all do not activate them
Cryptographer wants every cheat code scanned. Four are known, all behind optional detours, all invisible until the Scanner is up.
The trap is activation, not collection. The Codes tab lets you switch the cheats on, and that disables trophies on that save file. You need the Cryptograph key item first: in the Lower Levels, behind a Level 3 Access door that requires a Level 2 Access card. It also upgrades the Scanner, which is what Second Sight wants.
Every code can be scanned before you ever hold the Cryptograph, so there is never a reason to rush this. Leave the switches alone until the platinum is in hand.
If the game stops crediting something mid-sweep, that code setting is the first thing to suspect. If a room instead feels genuinely blocking, the invisible wall and map bug guide covers the map-lies-to-you failure mode reviews hit at launch.
A sweep order that avoids a second playthrough
Nothing here is missable, so the Logbook does not need to be planned around your route — it needs to be remembered during your route. Sweep every room you are in and the room you just left, confirm each boss registered itself, then spend one deliberate routing pass on the codes and shards, which cluster in the Lower Levels and the optional wings. Backtrack on shuttles rather than on foot: the shuttle station guide covers which of the seven stations reach which sectors.
Two collectible families sit outside the Logbook and will not move Completionist: the Suit Mods in Vaults and the 6 Energy Cells that drive Suit Power. Players chasing "all collectibles" regularly assume those live in the same menu.
FAQ
How many Logbook entries are there in total? Creatures 42, Notes 51 and Data Shards 8 are complete counts. Cheat Codes stand at 4 found with the total unconfirmed. Guides is excluded from Completionist.
Is anything in the Logbook missable? No. Bosses register automatically when defeated, and NPCs plus non-respawning mobs can always be found on the map, even as corpses — everything can be scanned after the credits.
I killed a boss and it is not in the Logbook. Bosses add themselves on defeat, so a missing boss was never beaten. The likeliest candidates are the optional Brood Keeper and Morgue Dweller, both in the boss guide.
Should I turn on the cheat codes I collect? No. Activating any Logbook code disables trophies on that save file.
Do I need all 8 Data Shards for the secret ending? All 8, handed in together, at the Mainframe on B3 of the Lower Levels — after beating the normal ending, then defeat the final boss again.
Is End of Abyss on Steam? No. The PC release is Epic Games Store only, and there is no Steam version to look for.
